In this workshop\, we will be discussing the gold standard treatment for OCD called Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). This evidence-based therapy is significantly underutilized by mental health practitioners.  The workshop also provides an overview of family-based ERP treatment planning for OCD and anxiety issues. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Intended Audience \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n All mental health professionals\, including psychologists\, psychiatrists\, family physicians\, pediatricians\, social workers and other health professionals and students who would like to learn practical\, proven methods to enhance their therapeutic skills with individuals living with OCD and anxiety.  								\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learning Objectives \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Understand the essentials of exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy and its effectiveness in treating OCD.Learn the key components of an ERP therapy program and how paradoxical and counterintuitive treatment strategies can reduce OCD symptoms and anxiety.Learn how to apply exposure and response prevention techniques in real-world situations to manage OCD symptoms.Learn about the problem of family accommodation and how to engage family members for best results.Provide educational resources for clinicians and their clients to facilitate treatment compliance. 								\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presenter \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Janet Caryk \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Janet Caryk is a Registered Psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta and has been practicing for over 40 years.  She is the co-founder of the Centre For Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Edmonton and facilitates NO More Fear psychoeducational seminars for people living with OCD/anxiety disorders and their families.  Janet works with clients 10+ years of age\, providing exposure-based treatment.  She also provides clinical supervision to psychology graduate students and psychiatry residents. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Cancellation and Refunds \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Cancellation and refunds may be applied for by email or phone call to the PAA Continuing Professional Development Officer.  Cancellations received fourteen (14) days prior to the Continuing Professional Development activity will receive a full refund of the registration fee\, less a $35.00 + GST processing fee.
